Absolute Truth

Posted by: Julie in

Have you ever heard of One Time Blind? They do these amazing skits that REALLY make you think! Here is their description of themselves:

ART AT ITS BEST MAKES PEOPLE THINK.

It makes you question, provokes your thought, and moves you to a deeper place. It’s hard to describe what we do, but we consider it an art form.

We communicate the reality of Christ in a modern-day language, using onstage conversation and dramatic elements to convey our message.

onetimeblind will make you think.

FOUR PEOPLE. ONE TRUTH.

Watch this video below. It's about Absolute Truth. You know, how the Bible, God's Word, is Absolute Truth and how so many people, even Christians, think the Bible is "open to interpretation". It will really open your eyes and make you think.

Are you just in awe of the fact that God listens to us?

Can you believe He actually cares about our wants and needs?

Really, the Creator of the Universe, wants me to
bring my cares to Him.

Do you want to know something even more amazing?

He really DOES answer our prayers!!!

Saturday our ice truck broke. My dear husband is not one to let our locations sell out of ice, so yesterday was spent bagging ice and delivering it out of the back of the van with 4 kids in tow.
Let me tell ya, that is no easy task.

Today was even more difficult. He was trying to bag and deliver ice by himself using his car. I wasn't available to help him until after 2 PM. It FINALLY occurred to me that I had not stopped and given this problem over to God. Right then, I came to my knees and prayed and I prayed specifically for what our needs were. Then, I stopped worrying. I went about my day, got the girls from school early and went to help my beloved. We had discussed our options for tomorrow and I called him late in the afternoon to see what plans needed to be made.

This is when it gets GOOD!

When I prayed earlier today I asked God to allow our truck to be fixed today. The mechanic came by when we weren't there, then called to tell us he needed to order a part. We figured it would be 1 - 2 days before the truck would be ready. However, God had other plans. When I spoke to my hubby this evening, the mechanic was there fixing the truck and it would be ready TODAY!!!

Wait, it gets BETTER...

I also asked God to allow the bill to be $100 or less. Let's face it, auto repair can cost an arm and a leg and we just don't have money to throw around. My husband informed me that the mechanic decided to waive his usual service fee and just charged us...... $95!!!

Seriously??? Seriously???

How can ANYONE not believe that

Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus

Posted by: Julie in ,

O soul, are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There's a light for a look at the Savior,
And life more abundant and free!

Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.

Through death into life everlasting
He passed, and we follow Him there;
Over us sin no more hath dominion—
For more than conquerors we are!

His Word shall not fail you—He promised;
Believe Him, and all will be well:
Then go to a world that is dying,
His perfect salvation to tell!

John14: 1-3 ; 6; 10-14; 28 -31

(1)"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me.

(2)In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you.

(3)And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.

(6)Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

(10)Don't you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work.

(11)Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves.

(12)I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.

(13)And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father.

(14)You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.

(28)"You heard me say, 'I am going away and I am coming back to you.' If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I.

(29)I have told you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe.

(30)I will not speak with you much longer, for the prince of this world is coming. He has no hold on me,

(31)but the world must learn that I love the Father and that I do exactly what my Father has commanded me.

I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen.
Not only because I see it, but because I see everything by it.

God's Creation

Isn't this a pretty little yellow bird?
My front yard is FULL of them this morning.
I so enjoy watching the pretty birds God has blessed us with.

We have red birds...
and blue birds, too.
Even on rainy, dreary days we just have to look around to see God's glory!

He is not here; He has RISEN!!!

Matthew 28

1In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.

2And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.

3His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:

4And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men.

5And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.

6He is not here: for he is risen, as he said.

The Empty Egg

Posted by: Julie in

(thank you to Mom of 9 for this lovely story)

Jeremy was born with a twisted body and a slow mind. At the age of 12 he was still in second grade, seemingly unable to learn. His teacher, Doris Miller, often became exasperated with him. He would squirm in his seat, drool, and make grunting noises. At other times, he spoke clearly and distinctly, as if a spot of light had penetrated the darkness of his brain. Most of the time, however, Jeremy just irritated his teacher.

One day she called his parents and asked them to come in for a consultation. As the Forresters entered the empty classroom, Doris said to them, "Jeremy really belongs in a special school. It isn't fair to him to be with younger children who don't have learning problems. Why, there is a five year gap between his age and that of the other students. Mrs. Forrester cried softly into a tissue, while her husband spoke.

"Miss Miller," he said, "there is no school of that kind nearby. It would be a terrible shock for Jeremy if we had to take him out of this school. We know he really likes it here."Doris sat for a long time after they had left, staring at the snow outside the window. Its coldness seemed to seep into her soul. She wanted to sympathize with the Forresters. After all, their only child had a terminal illness. But it wasn't fair to keep him in her class. She had 18 other youngsters to teach, and Jeremy was a distraction. Furthermore, he would never learn to read and write. Why waste anymore time trying? As she pondered the situation, guilt washed over her. Here I am complaining when my problems are nothing compared to that poor family, she thought. Lord, please help me to be more patient with Jeremy.

From that day on, she tried hard to ignore Jeremy's noises and his blank stares. Then one day, he limped to her desk, dragging his bad leg behind him. "I love you, Miss Miller," he exclaimed, loud enough for the whole class to hear. The other students snickered, and Doris' face turned red.

She stammered, "Wh--why that's very nice, Jeremy. N--now please take your seat." Spring came, and the children talked excitedly about the coming of Easter. Doris told them the story of Jesus, and then to emphasize the idea of new life springing forth, she gave each of the children a large plastic egg. "Now," she said to them, "I want you to take this home and bring it back tomorrow with something inside that shows new life. Do you understand?" "Yes, Miss Miller," the children responded enthusiastically--all except for Jeremy. He listened intently; his eyes never left her face. He did not even make his usual noises. Had he understood what she had said about Jesus' death and resurrection? Did he understand the assignment? Perhaps she should call his parents and explain the project to them. That evening, Doris' kitchen sink stopped up. She called the landlord and waited an hour for him to come by and unclog it. After that, she still had to shop for groceries, iron a blouse, and prepare a vocabulary test for the next day. She completely forgot about phoning Jeremy's parents.

The next morning, 19 children came to school, laughing and talking as they placed their eggs in the large wicker basket on Miss Miller's desk. After they completed their math lesson, it was time to open the eggs. In the first egg, Doris found a flower. "Oh yes, a flower is certainly a sign of new life," she said.

"When plants peek through the ground, we know that spring is here." A small girl in the first row waved her arm. "That's my egg, Miss Miller," she called out. The next egg contained a plastic butterfly, which looked very real. Doris held it up. "We all know that a caterpillar changes and grows into a beautiful butterfly. Yes, that's new life, too." Little Judy smiled proudly and said, "Miss Miller, that one is mine." Next, Doris found a rock with moss on it. She explained that moss, too, showed life. Billy spoke up from the back of the classroom, "My daddy helped me," he beamed.

Then Doris opened the fourth egg. She gasped. The egg was empty. Surely it must be Jeremy's she thought, and of course, he did not understand her instructions. If only she had not forgotten to phone his parents. Because she did not want to embarrass him, she quietly set the egg aside and reached for another. Suddenly, Jeremy spoke up. "Miss Miller, aren't you going to talk about my egg?"

Flustered, Doris replied, "But Jeremy, your egg is empty." He looked into her eyes and said softly, "Yes, but Jesus' tomb was empty, too." Time stopped. When she could speak again, Doris asked him, "Do you know why the tomb was empty?" "Oh, yes," Jeremy said, "Jesus was killed and put in there. Then His Father raised Him up."

The recess bell rang. While the children excitedly ran out to the schoolyard, Doris cried. The cold inside her melted completely away.

Three months later, Jeremy died. Those who paid their respects at the mortuary were surprised to see 19 eggs on top of his casket, all of them empty.

Matthew 27:32-54

The Crucifixion
32As they were going out, they met a man from Cyrene, named Simon, and they forced him to carry the cross.

33
They came to a place called Golgotha (which means The Place of the Skull).

34There they offered Jesus wine to drink, mixed with gall; but after tasting it, he refused to drink it.

35
When they had crucified him, they divided up his clothes by casting lots.

36And sitting down, they kept watch over him there.

37Above his head they placed the written charge against him: THIS IS JESUS, THE KING OF THE JEWS.

38
Two robbers were crucified with him, one on his right and one on his left.

39
Those who passed by hurled insults at him, shaking their heads

40and saying, "You who are going to destroy the temple and build it in three days, save yourself! Come down from the cross, if you are the Son of God!"

41In the same way the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the elders mocked him.

42"He saved others," they said, "but he can't save himself! He's the King of Israel! Let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in him.

43He trusts in God. Let God rescue him now if he wants him, for he said, 'I am the Son of God.' " 44In the same way the robbers who were crucified with him also heaped insults on him.

The Death of Jesus
45From the sixth hour until the ninth hour darkness came over all the land.

46
About the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, "Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?"—which means, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"

47When some of those standing there heard this, they said, "He's calling Elijah."

48Immediately one of them ran and got a sponge. He filled it with wine vinegar, put it on a stick, and offered it to Jesus to drink.

49The rest said, "Now leave him alone. Let's see if Elijah comes to save him."

50And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit.

51At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook and the rocks split.

52The tombs broke open and the bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life.

53They came out of the tombs, and after Jesus' resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many people.

54When the centurion and those with him who were guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and all that had happened, they were terrified, and exclaimed,

"Surely he was the Son of God!"

Why

Have you ever wondered Why?

Why did Jesus fold the napkin?

Posted by: Julie in

(my sister in law sent me this email today and I thought it was very interesting)

Why did Jesus fold the linen burial cloth after His resurrection? I never noticed this.......

John 20:7 tells us that the napkin, which was placed over the face of Jesus, was not thrown aside like the grave clothes. The Bible takes an entireverse to tell us that the napkin was neatly folded and was placed at thehead of that stony coffin.

Early that Sunday morning, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and found thatthe stone had been rolled away from the entrance. She ran and found SimonPeter, and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved. She said, "They have taken the Lord's body and I don't know where they have taken Him!".

Peter and the other disciple ran to the tomb to see. The other discipleoutran Peter and got there first. He stooped and looked in and saw thelinen cloth lying there, but he didn't go in. Then Simon Peter arrived and went inside. He also noticed the linen wrappings lying there, while the napkin that had covered Jesus face was folded up and lying to one side.

Is that important? Absolutely!

Is that really significant? Yes!

In order to understand the significance of the folded napkin, you have tounderstand a little bit about the Hebrew tradition of that day. The foldednapkin had to do with the Master and Servant, and every Jewish boy knew thistradition.

When the Servant set the dinner table for the Master, he made sure it wasexactly the way the Master wanted it. The table was furnished perfectly, and then the servant would wait, just out of sight, until the Master hadfinished eating. The Servant would not dare touch that table until theMaster was finished.

If the Master were done eating, he would rise from the table, wipe hisfingers, his mouth, and clean his beard and would w ad up that napkin andtoss it onto the table. The servant would then know to clear the table. Forin those days, the wadded napkin meant, "I'm finished".

I did not know this....

If the Master got up from the table, and folded his napkin beside his plate, the servant would not dare touch the table, because....

The folded napkin meant, "I'm coming back!".

He is coming back!

During this Holy season, I pray that you are blessed with peace and joy inthe knowledge that He IS coming back someday.

James 1:1-8

James 1:1-8 (King James)

1.)James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting.

2.) My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;

3.) Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

4.) But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

5.) If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

6.) But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.

7.) For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.

8.) A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

************************************************************************************
James 1:1-8 (The Message)

1.) I, James, am a slave of God and the Master Jesus, writing to the twelve tribes scattered to Kingdom Come: Hello! Faith Under Pressure

2 -4.) Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides. You know that under pressure, your faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colors. So don't try to get out of anything prematurely. Let it do its work so you become mature and well-developed, not deficient in any way.

5 -8.) If you don't know what you're doing, pray to the Father. He loves to help. You'll get his help, and won't be condescended to when you ask for it. Ask boldly, believingly, without a second thought. People who "worry their prayers" are like wind-whipped waves. Don't think you're going to get anything from the Master that way, adrift at sea, keeping all your options open.

Isn't God Good?

Our church is participating in Operation Shoebox. That is when you pack a shoebox full of items for kids and then it is shipped to children that wouldn't normally have a Christmas. We had wanted to participate but the cost of shipping was holding me back. It's $7 per box and money for us is tight (like it is with most everyone).

Well, I've been feeling convicted about this. How can I provide such a blessed Christmas to my children and my family and think I don't have the money to help out children that have nothing?

How selfish of me!

This morning I decided that I could stretch my groceries for the week and use that money to pay the $21 for the 3 boxes we are doing.

Today, the kids and I were trying to get out the door to go buy the items for the shoe boxes. I had already filled them with items I had bought with my coupons and we needed to get some toys in there to be done. Each child took $5 of their money to buy 5 items at the Dollar Store. I was going to pay the shipping for each box.

Well, we couldn't seem to leave. One thing after another prolonged us being at home. Then there was a knock at the door and a man was standing there. He lives nearby to us and had noticed that we had an old lawn mower pushed into the corner of our yard. It sort of looked like this one...

Anyway, he wanted to buy it. I have no idea what to charge for something like that. We were planning to just haul it off and dump it. I told him to make an offer and he said "How's $25?" I took it! That is enough money to pay for the shipping charges for the shoe boxes and give the $4 that is left back to God!

Could I have gotten more for that old lawn mower? Maybe, maybe not. But, the timing and amount was too perfect to not be God working.

Thank you God for your blessings.

Thank you for allowing us to bless others.

Resurrection Rolls

Posted by: Julie in , ,

This Easter the children and I made Resurrection Rolls. I found the recipe and idea at My Cup Runneth Over. A few years ago we made the Easter cookies and while it was fun and educational, the kids didn't like the cookies. These Resurrection Rolls were a HIT! Fun, easy, educational, YUMMY! What more could you ask for?

Here the kids are making the rolls....

The rolls are made and ready to go into the oven
("D" thinks it's fun to blow "raspberries" LOL)

Yummy! What a great Easter treat!

Thank you, Chas!
We had a special time learning about our Savior and why He lived and died and rose again for us. We will use this great idea time and time again. I belive it will become a special Easter memory for our family!

Happy and Blessed Easter
