Small Walgreens Trip

Posted by: Julie

I was in a MAJOR need of diapers today and thanks to
Thrifty Florida Mama I got a really good deal.

Walgreens put out a $10 off $30 purchase coupon that was only good for March 30,2008. I printed that and grabbed my Huggies Q's and headed to the store. I bought:

3 pks of Huggies Supreme Diapers for $9.49 each
1 Children's Motrin $5.99 cause "D" has a fever again

Total Before Coupons: $34.46

Used: $10 off $30 Walgreens Q
$1.50 Huggies Q
$1.50 Huggies Q
$1.00 Huggies Q

Total OOP (before tax) $20.46

Thrifty Florida Mama also posted a link to a Huggies Rebate that will bring back $5.00. Once that money is refunded, I will have spent $15.46 (+ tax) for all the above!

I hear that next week brings Pampers deals at CVS. I hope to stock up a few more then so I don't run out and have to pay (GASP) full price for diapers! LOL!

It's that time of year. Everything is winding up and it's keeping us busy.
*
Sunday was "D's" 2nd birthday party. We had the family over for hamburgers, cake and ice cream.
*
Monday was Memorial Day and was very relaxing. We joined my mom and dad for dinner.
*
Tuesday was spent at home.
*
Wednesday (today) I did grocery shopping and then after school my son "A" had an audition for a drama program at our Fine Arts School. We'll know in 3 weeks if he will be accepted.
*
Thursday "K" graduates from SHARE Head Start.
*
Friday "J" has awards day at school
*
That leaves very little time for bargain hunting or blogging. We are counting down the days until summer vacation...June 4th!

WE CAN'T WAIT!!

Tackle It Tuesday

I am working in my kitchen this week and for this Tackle It Tuesday I decided to work on one of my cabinets. This is the one that holds my baking supplies and it has just gotten W-A-Y out of hand. Here's the "Before" picture:

What do we have here? Mommy's little helper!

We're making progress...

All done!

I love seeing what everyone is doing on Tackle It Tuesday
Why don't you visit, too and then tell us what you tackled today?

Monday Musings

Posted by: Julie

How are you this beautiful spring day? The sun is shinning, the breeze is blowing and the birds are singing, can it get any better?

The above picture is the view from my front door. It was just so pretty outside I wanted to capture it. One day I plan to fill that corner with azaleas and hosta and other shade loving flowers. One thing at a time, though :-)

Today I've been a bit busy. I got the kids up and off to school and made the beds and cleaned the kitchen. I opened windows and turned on fans. Ahhh...the breeze is so sweet and cool!

I've got laundry washing and drying right now. I've decided I need a clothes line and that is the next "project" I want to work on.

I also started de-cluttering my kitchen. I cleaned out 2 cabinets yesterday and today I cleaned out the silverware drawer and the drawer that holds my cooking utensils. Boy, did those drawers need it. Maybe later I'll clean out another cabinet or some more drawers.

Do you know about HouseParty.com? They sponsor parties to promote different items. You sign up to be a host and they send you items pertaining to the party. I've been chosen to be a host for a SC Johnson's party! The picture below is what they sent me in the party package!

  • 1 Pledge® Multi-Surface Duster
  • 15 duster refills
  • 1 Eco-friendly multi-use tote
  • 1 Kitchen Timer (not pictured)
  • 1 Refrigerator magnet (not pictured)
  • 15 “Fresh and Inviting” Booklets with household tips, recipes and coupons
  • 15 Grocery pads
  • 15 Glade® fragrance samplers
  • 30 Party napkins
Isn't that cool? I'm going to share with my family when they come up for my son's birthday party on Sunday. Maybe I can talk them into trying out the duster and doing a little spring cleaning at my house while they are here?

Well, the laundry calls, so I must go.

I hope you all have a blessed day!

We are super excited about this! We've been going to the free summer movies for several years now. It's a huge treat for us. There is NO WAY our family of 6 can afford a night out at the movies so we wait to see the kids movies when they come out in the summer. I'm going to jot these down on my calendar today so we won't miss any of the fun.

Happy Birthday, Dad

Posted by: Julie in

Happy Birthday, Dad!
I love you, Dad

I find myself wondering...
Did I give you your due..
For all that you've done for me
Did I ever thank you?

For all of my childhood memories
For helping me deal with life's stresses
For helping me accept my defeats
And celebrate my successes?

Or for teaching me the value of hard work,
Good judgement, courage, and being true
The laughter, smiles, and quiet times we've shared
Did I ever thank you?

If I have forgotten, I'm thanking you now
You taught me right from wrong....
I hope you know how much you're loved and appreciated
I hope you, instinctively, knew it all along.

Happy Birthday, Dad

One of "THOSE" days

Posted by: Julie

Actually, it hasn't been "that" bad, just frustrating due to my scattered brain! "D" and I made an early morning trip to CVS and Walmart for groceries. I had a return at CVS because I bought the wrong type of Aquafresh toothpaste last week and didn't get any ECB's. Well, who wants to pay $3.69 for toothpaste when you can get it for free? Not me :-)

The return went fine except for the fact that they had new registers and were still trying to figure the ins and outs of them. I got my refund and went in search of Hawaiian Tropic lip balm. Alas, there was none to be found. Okay, I still needed diapers.

I bought 2 pkgs of CVS diapers, used a $3 / $15 CVS Q plus $7.98 in ECB's. Out of pocket I paid around $8.00 for 2 pks of diapers. An okay deal since I was totally out and had to have them. I get in my car and go to Walmart. While at Walmart I realized my mistake...

CVS diapers are on sale Buy 2 pks Get 1 free. I FORGOT TO GET MY FREE PACK OF DIAPERS! Well, I wasn't about to let that one go. I knew that later in the day I would be by a different CVS when taking "J" to the dentist to have 2 teeth pulled.

So, we did the dentist thing and that went very well. Next stop was at Chick Fil A for a snack. I had coupons for free milkshakes with any purchase. The girls got ice cream cones, "A" and I got milkshakes and "D" got a 4-piece nuggets and shared my milkshake. All of this for just under $4.00. Not too bad and it was a well deserved treat after getting teeth pulled ;-)

On to CVS to fix the diaper boo-boo. I waited in line just to be told that since the deal was a B2GO I had go back to the original CVS to fix it. UGH! I stopped that this CVS because I didn't want to use the gas going to the first CVS.

Well, we made our way back to the first CVS and got the free pack of diapers. I was plum worn out by the time we got home. I sat on the couch and had to close my eyes for a few minutes. Thankfully the kiddo's headed outside to play and I had a few minutes of quiet to recharge.

I'm still working on the mountain of laundry. All of the bedding has been done and I've started on the clothes. I should be done by tomorrow night baring any problems.

Now I'm off to tidy up the house so it won't be out of sorts in the morning. Later I'm going to be working on my coupons and getting ready for Triple Coupons at Harris Teeter on Thursday.

Here's to a quiet day at home tomorrow!

Laundry!

Posted by: Julie

Oh the mountain of laundry I have! Not only do I have a weeks worth of clothes for 6 but I have sheets, blankets, and bedspreads from 5 beds.

How long do you think it will take me to finish it? I started yesterday. I wasn't able to be home much today to work on it. I tossed some sheets in the dryer around 3:00 and I've been doing laundry ever since.

At least tonight we're having C.O.R.N. for supper (Clean Out Refrigerator Night).

Tomorrow will bring more laundry and a dentist trip for "J". She is having 2 teeth pulled at 2:00 PM. Somewhere in there I'm going to need a grocery trip.

Busy, busy bee....that seems to be me! :-)

Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day!

I hope all of you wonderful mother's had a blessed Mother's Day.

My day started when I was awakened by a certain little 2 yr old boy who was in my bed. How sweet to wake up to that smiling face :-)

Not too long after that my other children came tromping into my room saying "Happy Mother's Day!" I was presented a homemade card signed by all my dear children and then was given my gift....breakfast in bed! And yes, they did it all themselves!

What was breakfast? Why it was a banana with peanut butter spread on it and a granola bar. It was decorated beautifully. They placed it inside a Walmart bag! LOL!

This was a lovely Mother's Day. How sweet of my children to remember me and do such a thoughtful thing. I am so blessed to have these special people in my life.

God has truly smiled on me :-)

Baked Teriyaki Chicken

Posted by: Julie in

My, oh my, but this chicken is to die for! I was browsing the wonderful menus posted for Menu Monday at Organizing Junkie and she had posted a link for Baked Teriyaki Chicken.
This chicken is so easy and yummy! I served it with rice and glazed carrots. This is one that will be on our table often. Even my super picky kids went nuts over it. As the Monroe Children put it, "This one is a keeper."

Fun Morning at the Park

Posted by: Julie in

My 4 year old "K", my 2 year old "D" and I had a beautiful morning to go to the park. I forgot my camera but I found pictures of the park we went to on the internet.

This is Poinsett Park in Travelers Rest. It's a pretty little park with a big area for big kids and then a smaller area for little kids. They have swings, a waking/ riding path, a shelter, and clean bathrooms. The day was just so pretty! We stayed for about an hour then headed out for lunch.

Lunch was at Pizza Inn. We really chowed down! We had salad, pepperoni pizza, hamburger pizza, taco pizza and chicken alfredo pizza. We followed that with chocolate chip pizza, of course!
YUM! YUM! YUM! Delicioso!
After lunch it was time to come home for a nap before picking up my other children at school.

Days like this makes it SO hard to wait for summer!
