Lisa asked, "Where can I get the coupon for the Dino Bites chicken nuggets? My son has been wanting nuggets for a while now."
*

Well Lisa, here's where I found out about the FREE DINO BITES

*

From Sensible Cents:
Fast Fixin' Dino Bites are on sale 2 for $2.00 at Wal-Mart this week. Go here to get your $1.00 off coupons. Just sign up for their Fanatics club, and they will send 5 coupons to your printer. Go back and refresh the page to print 5 more! Then, look around on their site, and there is a place to print another coupon. Again, backspace and refresh the page and you'll get yet another. That makes a total of 12 coupons! I just got my 12 free bags today, and we had them for supper tonight.

*

I still have 5 coupons left after buying 7 Dino Bites on Saturday. I hope to pick up the last of those tomorrow!

*

Thanks to Sensible Cents for sharing this great find!

"J's" Birthday Cake

Posted by: Julie in ,

First we have the cupcakes that "J" is going to take to school to share on Monday
She requested that they have the letter "J" on them and I added the dots. I think they turned out pretty cute :-)

Here is a top view of her cake. It's kind of fun and girly.
She is having a Hannah Montana party and these colors go along with the decorations.

Here you can see some of how I decorated the sides.

Simple and sweet.

As you can tell, I'm not a professional. I've never had decorating classes.

I'm just a mom making cakes and memories for her kids. ;-)

What's the Bzz? Glade Flameless Candles!

Posted by: Julie

Look what came in the mail yesterday

I am a Bzz Agent and they sent this to me in the mail to "Bzz" about
Have you tried the Glade Flameless Candles yet?
If not, what are you waiting for?
I think these are so neat.
*
How does Glade describe their product?
*
The new Glade® Wisp® Flameless Candle combines continuous puffs of fragrance with a warm, flickering glow, letting you enhance the mood in any setting. Place it in your living room, bathroom, bedroom or anywhere you'd like to create a more inviting space. The Glade® Wisp® Flameless Candle looks so real, you'd never know it wasn't a real candle.
Unlike many ordinary electric continuous air fresheners, the Glade® Wisp® Flameless Candle:
Features a decorative glass jar that fits virtually any d├ęcor
Is battery-operated and portable
*
Enhances the ambiance in any room. Unlike ordinary candles, the Glade® Wisp® Flameless Candle:
Continuously fragrances, all day, every day
Is adjustable to 5 fragrance settings
Has no flame, so you can use it practically anywhere
*
The Glade® Wisp® Flameless Candle has no lit flame, so you can feel confident using it near curtains, next to houseplants and in countless other situations where you might not use a traditional candle. It's fragrance, ambiance and peace of mind, all in one.
*
What do I think about the Glade Flameless Candle?
*
I like it alot. I like that you can control the intensity of the smell. I like that you can turn the light off and still use the scent. I like that it gives you the look of a candle without the flame.
With a house full of kids, the last thing I need is a live flame around. The Glade Flameless Candle gives me the look and feel of a candle without the danger of a real flame.
*
I even found a $5.00 off coupon HERE
*
Want to see what I did with my Glade Flameless Candle?

Can you see it on the side of the bubble-filled tub? Oh it was such a relaxing bath!
*
I can't wait to share the coupons with my family and friends!

Frugal Friday ~ Birthday Cakes ~~

Posted by: Julie in ,

My frugal tip comes because my daughter "J" is having her 8th birthday this Sunday.
Back when my first child was born, I bought birthday cakes from the bakery. Ouch! Then when my second child came along, I lost my mind and bought a special made cake for her first birthday from the expensive bakery here in town. Can you believe they charged me $10 just to make it chocolate instead of the standard yellow?
*
Well, I began making their cakes and I couldn't believe how easy it can be!
I used a boxed cake mix that I pick up at Wal Mart for $0.88. You can also pick these up when they are on sale and you have a coupon and can pick them up for lots less.
*
I also make my own butter cream icing. All it is is powdered sugar, Crisco, butter and milk. You can find the recipe online.
*
I've never taken a cake class. I'd love to, but I just don't have the time. I've learned as I've gone along.
*
Here is my most recent cake. I was for my son "A's" 10th birthday in February
Would you like to see more of the birthday cakes?
The kids just love planning their frugal birthday cakes! It's a big deal around here to pick out the design they want and have mom make the cake.
*
It's frugal and it's PRICELESS!!

All of this for $16.36!!!!!

Info on Mystery Shopping

Posted by: Julie

S.B. at Be Thrifty Like Us left a comment on my post about mystery shopping. She wrote:
"That sounds awesome. Can you tell us more about mystery shopping? How do you find a company who offers mystery shopping positions?"
Well, I started out when I visited this blog : A to Z Mystery Shopping.
She recommends the following sites as a start:
KSS International, Inc. www.sassieshop.com/2kern
Another neat site is http://www.jobslinger.com/ This site has available jobs posted from several different companies. You can see what is available and then you can sign up directly with that company.
Let me tell you about the jobs I've done so far. Of course I can't tell you exactly who I shopped but I can give you the basics.
1. Grocery Store - paid $10 fee plus reimbursed me $3 towards any purchase I made
2. Grocery Store- paid $10 fee plus reimbursed me $3 towards any purchase I made
3. Breakfast Shop -paid $7 fee plus reimbursed me the cost of my food
4. Breakfast Shop - paid $7 fee plus reimbursed me the cost of my food
5. Dinner Shop - paid $40 towards the purchase of dinner for 2
6. Grocery Store - paid $10 fee plus reimburse me $3 towards any purchase I made
7. Lunch Shop - paid $10 fee plus reimbursed me $5.40 for the cost of food

Is it hard? No, but it’s not “simple”. You’ve got to be on your toes. You’ve got to make sure you know what your instructions are. I goofed one of my shops because I misread my instructions. Luckily I was able to fix my mistake but that “shop” didn’t count and I wasn’t paid or reimbursed for that one. That’s okay, I chalked it up to learning the ropes.

Pay attention to DETAIL! I never realized how much information a company would ask for. It’s amazing! These companies really do care about their customers and want them to have the best experience as possible when we, their customer, are in their location. They not only want to know if the store was clean, they want to know about bathrooms, parking lots, light fixtures, dust on shelves, how helpful the employees were, etc. Of course each shop is different, but you learn to just look out for those things regardless.

Get everybody’s name and description. Sometimes you just need a name, sometimes you need both. Know who you talked to and what was said. From “Hello, welcome to ____, may I help you?” to “Thank you, please come again” they want to know what the employee said and what you said, too.

Be professional. This is a given!

Don’t be obvious. Again, you knew that.

Have fun, but pay attention. Don’t forget this is a job. It’s okay to enjoy it and have a good time, but make sure you get all the info you need and more.

Fill in your report on time and correctly. Some of the reports can look very daunting. It’s a lot of information to keep up with. If you don’t do it right, they will have to contact you and it could bring down the rating of your shop. Also, it is BEYOND IMPORTANT that you use correct grammar and spelling. You need to use complete sentences when describing your shop. You can’t say something like , “Dirty store, trash lying around, lights not working.” They want to hear. “The store was not clean. There was trash lying around the trash can and on the floor. I also noticed that four of the lights at the front of the store were not working properly.”

Get a receipt! This is proof that you did the shop and it is required for payment.

Many stores want you to take pictures as well. You do have a digital camera and know how to upload pictures, right?

You need a printer and copier. You will need to print information for your shops and make copies of forms or receipts.

A scanner is another great item to have . This way you can scan in your receipts . Of course you can take a digital picture of your receipt and use that.

A fax machine. Many shops need you to fax in your paper work. I bought a scanner, fax machine, printer, copier for my DH for Christmas from WalMart for around $50. This was a super investment for us. He uses it for our ice business and I use it for mystery shopping and coupons (of course )

Another key point is to have a PayPal account. This is the only way many companies will pay you. It’s free to sign up so go ahead and do it before you ever sign up to shop. However, be sure that the email you sign up with Pay Pal is the same email you use for your mystery shop accounts. They must match to receive payment!

Is Mystery Shopping for me? I think so. I’m taking it one job at a time. Right now it’s fun and I’m making a little money. I’ve got 4 kids, one that is not in school yet. I can pick the jobs that I know will work around my moms or DH’s schedule. This way I’ll know someone is there to take care of “D”. When he is older and in school, I can take the jobs during the hours the kids are in school and be done when it’s time to pick them up. In the summer, I can still be home with the kids without having to figure out someplace for them to go. This is a little job that works for me and my situation.

Is Mystery Shopping for you? Who knows, give it a try and find out! If you love it, great! You’ve found a new career! If you don’t like it? Well, you’ll never know if you don’t try ;-)

Super Savings at Bi-Lo Today!

Posted by: Julie in ,

All of this for...
$38.41

I headed out to Bi-Lo today to pick up a few BOGO specials and ended up with all of this instead. Here's the low down on what I got:

They had ground chicken marked down from $3.29 per lb to $1.29 per lb. I bought 8 of these 1 lb packages.

They had a 1 lb package of ground turkey marked down from $2.50 to $1.00 so I snaped that up :-)

Then I found a nearly 4 lb pork butt marked down from $7.90 to $5.90.

Next came 2 packages of eye of round steaks. They were marked down from $4.99 to $3.38 each.

The Hormel bacon was BOGO. They were $5.49 each and BOGO put them at $2.95. I had $0.50 / 1 coupons that Bi-Lo doubled so my final cost of the bacon was $1.95 per 16oz package. I bought 4 of these.

The Tilapia was BOGO making them $4.00 each and I got 2 of these.

The Lay's chips were also BOGO making them $1.74 each and I got 2 of these.

Here's the most interesting purchase I made. The Sue Bee Honey was regularly $3.49 each. They were on sale BOGO making them $1.75 each. I had $1.00 / 1 coupons bringing my cost to $0.75 each. Well, that's pretty good, but wait.....

there were $1.00 peelies on the honey and the cashier used those as well!!

I told her it wouldn't work but she said she wanted to try it. The register beeped at her but she hand keyed them in. She said "I don't mind. I like being nice to my customers."

So the honey went from the regular price of $3.49 to +$0.25 in my favor! I bought 4 of them ;-)

My total before store savings and coupons: $103.19

My total out of pocket: $38.41

My total savings: $64.78

I feel so blessed! God really had a hand in this. I have been putting off my grocery trip knowing I was going to spend quite a bit this week. I knew this was the last day of the specials for this week and I needed to go get those items on my list. Well, most of that list went out the window and my menu has now changed for the week, but that's super fine with me.

God blessed us and I thank Him and praise Him for it!

Resurrection Rolls

Posted by: Julie in , ,

This Easter the children and I made Resurrection Rolls. I found the recipe and idea at My Cup Runneth Over. A few years ago we made the Easter cookies and while it was fun and educational, the kids didn't like the cookies. These Resurrection Rolls were a HIT! Fun, easy, educational, YUMMY! What more could you ask for?

Here the kids are making the rolls....

The rolls are made and ready to go into the oven
("D" thinks it's fun to blow "raspberries" LOL)

Yummy! What a great Easter treat!

Thank you, Chas!
We had a special time learning about our Savior and why He lived and died and rose again for us. We will use this great idea time and time again. I belive it will become a special Easter memory for our family!

Oh, I had the MOST fun today! I got to go Mystery Shopping and I got to award an employee with a Good Job Certificate! If the employee met all of the requirements for doing the transaction correctly I was to tell them that I was a Mystery Shopper and award them with the certificate. She will also receive a $20 check in the mail form the mystery shopping company.
How cool is that? I had my lunch paid for, I made $10 and I got to give away a prize. I'd say it's been a good day!!!

Posted by: Julie

Have you heard of this new product? Thanks to BuzzAgent.com I have been given the opportunity to try it out and to share with others. They sent me 2 of the Oust Surface and Air Sprays to try. Then they wanted me to talk about it and tell others what I think. Let me share with you a little about Oust Surface & Air…

Spray it on surfaces*, spray it in the air!
New Oust® Surface Disinfectant & Air Sanitizer kills more than 99.9% of germs (including cold & flu viruses) on the hard surfaces in your home.
And, it is specially formulated to kill odor-causing bacteria in the air—truly eliminating odors rather than just covering them up.

Use Oust® Surface Disinfectant & Air Sanitizer on toilet seats, countertops, telephones, doorknobs and other hard surfaces to kill bacteria like Staph and Salmonella, in addition to a variety of viruses and fungi. Use it in the air to eliminate odors by killing odor-causing bacteria. Your home will be rid of many germs and will smell clean and inviting.

Isn’t this great? One product can do all that? Well, we couldn’t have received it at a better time. My little ones brought home a cold from school and decided to share! Well, I’ll be going thru the house using Oust to kill all those nasty germs. I’m using the Clean Scent and I think it smells really nice. Even my daughter told me how good the house smelled when I used it yesterday!

Are you ready to give it a try? Well, look what I found today…Printable coupons for Oust Surface & Air! Here is a Buy One Get One Coupon and here’s one for $1.50 off one.

I’d love to hear from you if you’ve tried this product. If it’s good or if it’s bad, leave me a comment and tell me about your experience with Oust Service & Air!
